Your privacy matters to us. This Privacy Policy explains what data Skar collects, why we collect it, and how we protect it. By using Skar, you consent to the practices described in this policy.
When you create an account, we collect your name, username, email address or phone number, city, occupation, and age. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile photo from Google.
We collect your clock-in time, wake-up time, sleep duration, lock score, and morning ritual responses. If you connect Google Health Connect, we read sleep and health metrics with your explicit permission. Health data is classified as sensitive personal data under Indian IT Rules 2011 and is handled with additional care.
We track which features you use, your streak history, badge progress, city journey progress, and genre preferences. This helps us personalise your experience.
When you enable app blocking, Skar uses Android Accessibility Services to detect when blocked apps are opened during lockdown. We do not read the content of any other app. We only record whether a blocked app was opened to calculate your lock score. No data from other apps is collected, stored, or transmitted.
Confessions you post, friend connections, and paired lockdown data are stored to provide social features. Confessions are displayed anonymously but are linked to your account for moderation.
We may collect device type, OS version, and app version for crash reporting and performance monitoring.
We use your data to provide and personalise the Skar experience, including sleep tracking, score calculation, streak tracking, city journey progress, leaderboard rankings, chronotype analysis, genre-specific content, and push notifications.
We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your data for targeted advertising.
Your data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore) with encryption at rest and in transit. Access to your data is protected by Firebase Authentication and Firestore security rules that restrict access to your own account.
Cross-border data transfer: Your data may be stored on servers located outside India, including in the United States, operated by Google Firebase (a service of Google LLC). By using Skar, you consent to this transfer. Google Firebase complies with applicable data protection laws. For more information, see Firebase Privacy.
If you choose to connect Google Health Connect, Skar reads your sleep session data. This is classified as sensitive personal data under Indian IT Rules 2011.
We collect this data only with your explicit consent. You may withdraw this consent at any time by disconnecting Health Connect from your device's Health Connect settings. Withdrawal of consent does not affect data already collected.
Health data is used solely to improve your sleep score accuracy and is never shared with third parties.
We share your data only in the following cases: with other Skar users as part of social features you opt into (leaderboard, squad, paired lockdown), with service providers who help us operate the App (Firebase, analytics), and when required by law.
You can make your profile private in Settings to hide from the leaderboard.
You have the right to:
— Access your personal data
— Correct inaccuracies in your data
— Delete your account and all associated data
— Withdraw consent for health data access at any time
— Opt out of leaderboards via private profile setting
— Nominate a representative to exercise these rights on your behalf
To exercise these rights, contact privacy@skar.app or use the in-app Settings.
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all personal data is permanently removed within 30 days. Anonymous aggregated data (such as average sleep scores by city) may be retained indefinitely.
Skar is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. Processing of data for users between 13 and 18 requires verifiable parental consent. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Skar uses Android Accessibility Services exclusively to detect when user-selected blocked apps are opened during a lockdown session. This feature is entirely optional and user-controlled. Skar does not use Accessibility Services to collect passwords, payment information, personal messages, or any content from other applications.
Skar uses the following third-party services:
— Google Firebase (authentication, database, storage) — Privacy Policy
— Google Health Connect (optional sleep data sync) — Privacy Policy
— Google Play Billing (subscription payments) — Privacy Policy
— Google Sign-In (optional authentication) — Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the App. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
